These wall hooks are made from reclaimed 3 and 4 plank horse fence boards that I salvaged in the Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky (AKA The Horse Capitol of the World)! They are a mix of Farmhouse, Industrial and Minimalist design. These single hooks can be used as: plant hooks, robe hooks, hat hooks, backpack hooks, coat hooks, camera hooks, dog leash hooks, jewelry hooks, umbrella hooks, etc. Let your creativity run wild in the function and use with these durable hooks! Suitable for your foyer space, bedroom, laundry, mud room, office or bathroom. The reclaimed wood is offered in two finishes: Black Beauty and Weathered Gray. The Black Beauty Finish features a refreshed coat of a locally produced water-based horse and barn fence paint. The Weathered Gray Finish features the natural gray tones and a hit & miss splash of refreshed paint to amplify the organically distressed wood. Both are paired with handmade iron pipe hooks. The hooks extend roughly 2" from the wooden surface x 2 1/4" H with a 1 1/8" round end cap. The iron components have been cleaned and clear coated to prevent rust and provide protection. The wooden backings are approximately 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and 1" thick and made from solid Oak.
Please note, the wood used is authentic and reclaimed from local working Kentucky horse farms and may contain: chew marks, knot holes, areas of natural wood colors, cracks, splinters, slight cupping on backside (but will mount flush to wall) etc. I've lightly sanded them and made them as user-friendly as possible, yet wanted to keep their patina intact. In a nutshell, these are not produced out of cheap wood from the local big box stores lumber department. They've got rustic appeal!
Growing up in The Horse Capitol of the World, I've become accustomed to seeing the 3 and 4 plank horse fences stretching for thousands of miles along roads and property boundaries. These fences (although beautiful to see in long stretches along the rolling hills of the Bluegrass) are a necessity to contain and separate the world renown Thoroughbred, Quarter and Saddlebred horses. Over the years, I've noticed the common occurrence of fencing boards needing to be replaced in order to contain the 1,000 lb + animals. Seen as cultural artifacts, pieces of regional history and storied traditions, I decided to salvage these boards and keep them out of burn piles. The finished product is another handmade creation spawned out of thought and effort to use local resources and minimize waste.
*Includes simple mounting instructions and hardware (screws and wall anchors). Power drill recommended for installation.
