The choice is yours! This extremely unique piece was made using a repurposed/ salvaged iron base from the A.H. Andrews Company in Chicago (stamped on each side). The iron base was originally used as part of a children's desk. It has a fantastic patina with tattered red paint. The unique vintage base was fitted with two book-matched (sequence cut/ identical) crosscut slabs of black walnut, creating dual table top surfaces. These two tree slices have been finished in a proprietary film finish to withstand moisture, scratches and allow the wood to display its natural beauty. Some have said the shape of this rarity reminds them of a bonsai tree. This piece features something old, something new and you're guaranteed not to find another one in your neighbors home. It has COOL written all over it! It is art, functional furniture, history and awesome to look at! The total piece measures 26 1/2" high x 25" wide. The shorter table top measures 17 1/2" high. The shorter table top surface has a slight angle/pitch to it, as it was originally used for seating, yet it is unnoticeable when in use. Each live edge slab/ tree slice measures approximately 11 3/4" x 8" and are around 2" thick. This beauty is pretty stout and weighs around 50 lbs. It is extremely stable for display purposes. If intending on using for seating purposes, you will need to bolt to the floor using holes provided along flange at bottom of base.
